This year we decided to stay home for Christmas. It was quite pleasant. New powder on the ground meant skiing! So, for Christmas Eve day we all got bundle up and went to Brian Head. It was a gorgeous day.
Milo rips it up on skis! Of course, we forgot the camera, but don't worry, we're going again this weekend! Anyway, Milo was completely fearless. "I'm going to go on just a quick run," he would say, as a matter-of-factly. Then ZIP! He'd be gone down the hill. We had to catch up to him. He was also very flirtatious with the cute lifties; giving hugs left and right.
Jonas, we think, had too much eggnog. He was passed out nearly the whole afternoon.
The tradition of going skiing on Christmas Eve is great. Not only do we get to ski, but there is no bribing when bedtime is nigh. We set out cookies and milk for Santa, danced around our 2' pipe cleaner tree while singing songs, and were zonked as soon as our heads hit the feathers.
pit pat pit pat......gasp!.......pit pat pIT PAT. DADDY! WAKE UP! THERE'S MORE PRESENTS! (Milo)
7:30...not bad. Jonas was completely oblivious to the gifts and instead went around and collected all of the candy canes. (Jonas likes candy canes)
Christmas afternoon, we visited with the Clark Family...and then again that evening. It was a great day!
We were able to get the boys settled enough to tell them the real Christmas story; of Jesus' birth and how His life is a continuous gift to us from our Heavenly Father. "Do you love Jesus, Milo?" Yeah, And I love Santa!"
After, Milo said, "Let's sing Happy Birthday to Jesus!" We forgot to bake a cake.
For those that we weren't able to see or hear from...we missed you and we love you. We hope that your new year starts out right and that we see you soon!
P.S. Thanks Grandma Ludwig for the cranberry salad (now known as "Bludwig Salad") recipe! Yum!
