hey!
look at us! we're just like the jones'! i think we're going to try to post weekly, but what an empty promise that would be! we're way busy, but we're going to try, we'll dive right in!

this weekend was terrific! derek went to moab (for work, of course!) and finally biked the slick rock trail. woopti dah. "it was ok," derek stated. maren and the boys went to the parowan fair and picked a bunch of pumpkins to eventually carve and make scary for halloween.

derek is still in school. in case you were wondering, he is studying outdoor recreation/experiential education. while that might imply that he smokes weed with his professors all day, it's quite the contrary. experiential ed is what it says. derek is very busy with many projects this semester; teaching kayak clinics, rockclimbing courses, and canyoneering classes. he is in the process of organizing a southern utah climbing competition coming up in late october. with the experience from running the summer games climbing comp, he hopes it will be a good turnout. academically he's aiming for dec of 08 to be finished (finally). plans for a masters are pending (either in arizona, colorado, or oregon)

maren! she's rad! maren just finished her first 5k. she finished with a time of 30:35! she's so hardcore! and just recently maren got a road bike for her upcoming triathalon in st george. (keep your eyes out for future posts!) maren is also the queen of coupons! last week we got $250 worth of groceries for free! yup, free! and we didn't even use a gun. if you are curious how she did this drop her a line and she will tell you her secrets. between running marathons and couponing maren wrangles the boys.

the boys:
the first born, milo. he loves to cook. say this with a snobby english accent="he's soo domestic!" he also likes acting like a t-rex, climbing on the climbing wall, and loves sucker punching jonas. his vocabulary is very not his age. he'd rather have a conversation with his friends mom instead of his friend. the other day he came up to maren and derek and asked them, "do you mind if i join you?" wha?
there's also an orangutan under his bed. (not a monkey, or a monster, or and easier word to say)

jonas: the drama queen/punching bag
he likes to pretend that he's shy, but he's really not. he's good at using his words which consists of "aye"=yes, no, cowooooo=cow, haas=horse, and margeret=grandma clark. his pronunciation of margeret is perfect. (bulldozer and watermelon, are his vernacular as well) weird. he's also learning to use the toilet and has had success 7 times this week! "peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"

anything else you want to know? let us know. we're going up to tooele this weekend to see family and friends, so we should have more to say soon. we love you all and miss as well.
